What does your roof need?
Find your problem below. Each page says what a proper repair or restoration includes.
-
Tile Roof Restoration Broken tiles replaced, ridges repointed, then cleaned, sealed and coated so the roof is weathertight again.
-
Metal Roof Restoration Rust treated, screws and flashings sorted, damaged sheets replaced, then primed and coated.
-
Ridge Capping Rebedding and Repointing Cracked and loose ridge caps rebedded and repointed, so the top of the roof stops letting water in.
-
Roof Leak Repairs Finding where the water really gets in, which is often not above the stain, and fixing that.
-
Hail Damage Roof Repairs Cracked tiles, dented sheets and broken skylights after a storm, inspected properly and repaired.
-
Gutter and Downpipe Replacement Rusted, leaking or undersized gutters and downpipes replaced, with proper falls so storms drain away.
-
Re-Roofing When a roof is past restoring: new sheets or tiles, and the battens and sarking underneath checked or replaced.
What Toowoomba weather does to a roof
Roofs up here take more than most: summer storms that can bring hail, frosty winter mornings, and strong sun the rest of the time. A restoration is about repairing the damage and protecting the roof against the next round.
- Storms and hailCracked tiles, dented sheets and lifted flashings, often only visible from up close.
- Frost and coldMoisture in old, porous tiles and pointing works at them through the winter.
- SunUV chalks coatings and fades colour, and leaves bare metal to rust.
- WindLoose ridge caps and screws are the first things a gale finds.
What to expect from a good roofer
Queensland roofing jobs above $3,300 must be done under a QBCC licence of the right class. This line only hands roofs to licensed roofers, and the number should be printed on the quote. Look it up on the QBCC licensee register before work starts.
Inspected before it is quoted
A proper quote comes after someone has been up on the roof, or at least looked closely, not from a photo of the street.
Repairs before coatings
Broken tiles, loose screws, rust and failed pointing are fixed first. Coating over damage just hides it.
Safe at height
Working on a roof needs fall protection. Ask how the job will be done safely before agreeing to it.

Roofs on top of the Range
Perched at around 700 metres on the Range, Toowoomba roofs face a hard mix: summer storms that can carry hail, cold frosty winters, strong sun and wind across the escarpment. Tile roofs lose pointing and crack; metal roofs lose their coating, rust at the laps and loosen at the screws. Most of it starts small and out of sight.
A roof restoration deals with that in order. Repairs first: broken or cracked tiles replaced, ridge caps rebedded and repointed, rust treated and fixings replaced on metal. Then cleaning, then the coating system, primer or sealer and topcoats, that protects the roof for years. Tile roof restoration and metal roof restoration explain each.
Sometimes restoration is not the right answer, and a roof is past it. Restore or replace covers how to tell.
How this service works
Toowoomba Roof Restoration is a referral service, not a roofing company. You describe the roof, we ask what affects the job, and one QBCC-licensed roofer covering your suburb takes it from there, inspecting, pricing and fixing. Ring 0468 170 721 Monday to Friday, or fill in the form.
Before you book, the roof guides cover what people usually ask, and the about page says who ends up on your roof.
Asked about roofs
Am I calling a roofing company?
No. Toowoomba Roof Restoration is a referral service. The roof and the problem are written down and handed to one QBCC-licensed roofer covering your suburb, who rings to inspect and price it.
What does it cost to book a roof check through here?
Nothing. Booking through this service is free. The roofer quotes the work, and you can say no to the quote.
Does a roofer need a licence?
In Queensland, roof work over $3,300 needs a QBCC licence of the right class. Requests here only go to licensed roofers. Look up the licence number on the QBCC licensee register before work starts.
Can terracotta tiles be painted?
Terracotta tiles are usually not coated, because many are glazed or naturally coloured. Restoration on terracotta is mostly replacing broken tiles, repointing ridges and cleaning. Concrete tiles are the ones normally sealed and coated.
Water is coming through the ceiling. What should I do?
Move belongings, put down buckets and keep clear of wet ceilings and light fittings. Do not go up on a wet roof. Take photos, call your insurer if it followed a storm, and book a roofer to find the source.
